Missions
This Missions Committee keeps us aware of and is actively involved in mission
service to our community, nation and around the world. Feeding the hungry
and assisting with utilities in our local community is an ongoing ministry of
the church. First Church supports local shelters for the homeless and
underprivileged each month. 1995 was the first year that we sent a member
of our church family on a missions trip, beginning a tradition at First
Church. We celebrate that many have answered the call of the "Great
Commission", with persons to New Mexico, Alabama and Africa. Missions
are a vital part in the life of a church which continues to listen for God's
call to service.
Volunteers in Missions (V.I.M.)
First UMC sends out mission teams for a weeks at a time to various locations
to be of service to people world-wide.
